Vote for My SXSW Panels?!

alt="Vote for my PanelPicker Idea!" />

I’m back from getting married and honeymooning — and just face-planted into planning for SXSW Interactive 2010.

For those of you who don’t know, the nice people at SXSW headquarters let the public have a say in choosing each year’s lineup of speakers. I submitted two panels, and I’d give high fives and homemade biscuits for your vote.

You have to go to SXSW’s panel Picker and create an account to vote, but it only takes a minute. Search by name (Tiffani Jones) or panel title (below) to find my proposal. Once you’re there, simply give me a thumbs up. Feel free to leave a comment.

My Talks

I’m hoping to talk about three of my favorite things: writing, business, and working with my husband. Here are the details:

Writing Web Content for a Living:
By now we all know that “content is king,” yet there’s still a dearth of knowledge about the mechanics and business of web writing. I’ll talk about how to write great copy, why web content is special, and how to make money doing it–whether you’re an independent, agency, or in-house type.

DIY: Running a Business With Your Spouse: Common wisdom says never mix family and business, but we beg to differ. Running an internet company with your spouse can be a fun, profitable, and liberating experience–as long as you follow some basic rules. Matt (my husband, co-conspirator, and co-owner of design agency thingsthatarebrown) and I will show you how.

Other Peoples’ Talks

You can also vote for these awesome topics. I’m hoping they get lots of thumbs up so I can attend:

Content and Web Writing

Content Strategy FTW (Kristina Halvorson)

Why Your Content Sucks and How to Fix It (Kristina Halvorson)

New Publishing and Web Content (Jeffrey Zeldman)

The Book is Dead. Long Live the Book! (Dave Gray, Adam Greenfield, Alex Wright, Ben Vershbow, Alex Itin, Lou Rosenfeld, and Russell Davies)

Client Whisperers: Understanding Clients and Selling Web Design (Robert Jolly and Carl Smith)

We F*cked Up. Now what? Exploring Failure, Together (Kevin Hoffman)

Turn Off, Tune Out, Drop Weight (Robert Jolly, Derek Featherstone, Heather Shaw, DL Byron)

Design & Dev

Guerilla Web Tactics: Design Like a Hippie (Matt Brown!): What’s the best approach to web design? Too many designers let technology–not creativity–drive their design process. thingsthatarebrown owner Matt Brown will talk about some lo-fi, but high-return, methods guaranteed to improve your process (and leave you smelling like patchouli).

Designing For Content: Art Direction On The Web (Samantha Warren, Matthew Smith, Chris Cashdollar, Jason Santa Maria)

Reinventing the Wheel!: Redesigning Your Design Process (Chris Fahey)

The Ten Commandments of User Experience (Nick Finck)

Designing for the Mobile Web, Now (Kevin Tamura, Garrety Murray, Michael Dick)

Join the Mobile Social (Tom Watson)

ExpressionEngine 2.0: Total Domination! (Kenny Meyers)

For those of you who make it all the way to thumbs up sign on the Panel Picker — thank you kindly!! See you in Austin.

    Yup – voted;)

Yeah - This is the fun part! I’d love to talk about your project.

Tiffani is one of the hardest working, easiest-to-get-along-with people I've ever worked with in my career. She's got a great eye for detail, an effective (and fun) communication style and a ton of energy. I hope to have many more years working with her.

Tiffani Jones is one of the most dedicated, hard working, proactive and enjoyable employees I have ever had the honor of working with in my entire career... period. She is a fast learner, [and] tackles every challenge thrown at her...
